Dave is still recouping from last week's round of chemo. He has been fortunate so far about some of the side effects that chemo can contribute to, but not this time....he has been feeling very nauseated and hasn't been able to hold down solids very well. Overall he's feeling pretty yucky and sluggish, and today had been just slightly better, so hopefully things can turn around for him soon to start feeling a little better. As I said in the last post, we are spending our time in the evenings at the ball park, we had 2 games tonight and Dave made a point to make it to both, however the last game got a little chilly and he had to go so he wouldn't come down with a cold or something worse.
Dave will have a checkup at the U of I next week and then the following week he will be at Mayo for his evaluation and overall checkup. Please continue to pray for Dave as it seems like it is getting harder everytime during his chemo for him to recoup as fast.
God Bless,
Kim
Haven't updated lately, so here goes the latest. Dave started chemo today for 3 day cycle again. He was really tired today so the visitation with the docs weren't long, and from what he gathered from the one doc was that the x-rays appeared to have been the same as the last (can you believe they mis-placed the last x-ray, again???). His blood counts were good to go and everything else seemed to be as good as can be expected. Dave has been feeling ok these past few weeks, not as good as he had felt up to and during our Florida vacation, however, he hasn't had anymore seizure episodes since the last at Magic Kingdom, which is good, he should be in for a brain scan in about a month and a half. We're continuing to pray that the procedure done to the 3 tumors in the brain did the trick, at least he's not continuing to have those seizures.
Dave is continuing to do activities with the girls, it keeps him busy and he loves spending time with his friends and family. This is a busy time for all 3 girls, as softball season has already started, you'll be seeing the Kokjohn family at the park for at least 4 nights out of the week for the next 8 weeks. And this week Jessica is having her pre-school graduation, Dave is taking a few hour leave from the hospital to attend this special occassion. These are the moments that he looks forward to (me too!) and we are praying that there will be many more of these occassions that he can celebrate with us.
I know we have promised to scan in some pics from Disney, but we encountered some technical difficulties, we hadn't used the scanner in a while and when we tried to scan some pics in, the scans were really obscured. So, either I'll need to get another scanner or I'll take some of these pics into work and see if I can get it done there. I know I can speak for all of us here, that those times are definitely etched in our minds and hearts forever but it is fun to go back to the pics every once in a while to reminisce about those times.
Thanks again for the continuing support and prayers, we are truly fortunate to be around a great community of people. See you all at the baseball field!
God Bless,
Kim
I just got back from my latest office visit. After the usual blood draws and lab tests, everything came back normal. The lab tech used the new port for the first time, and it occurred to me; why didn't I get one of these a long time ago? Apart from feeling a small needle stick, it was very easy to use. The needle snapped right in, and all I needed afterward was a band-aid.
Apart from feeling a little tired lately, I have been doing very well. Nothing in the lab results indicated anything out of the ordinary, so it is business as usual. I'm going in next week for another visit, with anxious anticipation that I will receive another round of chemo (yeah :-). And early in June I am going up to Rochester so that they can poke and prod to find out what isn't wrong with me. And as long as the doctors can't find anything to complain about, I guess I can live with that.
Dave finished his chemo on Friday without a hitch, although the x-ray results didn't fair in his direction, he can feel that the chemo has kicked in and doing it's job. He's feeling pretty decent these days and haven't had anymore seizure episodes, let's hope it continues that way!
We still have yet to scan in some wonderful Disney pics, I will try to get them on this weekend, as we're just kicking around town and don't have a whole lot on our agenda to do. I just wanted to come on and let you all know he's doing ok or as good as can be expected. Let's continue to pray for a continuous miracle! he still has the doctors amazed! that's a good thing but I would like to see it completely disappear and have them be completely befuddled!
God Bless,
The Kokjohns
