First, we would like to thank the Hope Lodge Campaign for Iowa City group for supplying the wonderful pictures, Thanks Penny! I do not want to take credit for these wonderful photographs and memories, these latest photographs were taken up at the Hope Lodge in Rochester, Mn. by a professional photographer. Dave was asked in late July if he would like to be a part of the campaign for a Hope Lodge to be opened up in Iowa City, Iowa (Hope Lodge is supported by the American Cancer Society) and of course he was completely thrilled that he could give something back. We had a lot of fun that day, Dave enjoyed the time with the girls and they all enjoyed all the poses they did. It really meant a lot to him to contribute to the Hope Lodge in any way, because it is a warm, quiet and safe environment for adult cancer patients who are currently recieving treatment away from home.
We want to let everyone know that we appreciate all the warm well wishes and prayers. Dave is spending time with his family and friends and knows that a lot of people out there do care and are thinking about him and his family. It does mean a lot to see all the love, thoughts and wishes being sent his way. Please just trust that he is in good hands, we all do here in the Kokjohn household.
God Bless
Unfortunately the trip to Colorado had to be cancelled due to some deterioration in my condition, but the time was definetely well spent. I had the opportunity to have the girls over the weekend, and we had a wonderful time at my parents house in Ft. Madison (about 90 minutes away). Monday was uneventful as it was Labor Day and most things were closed. Tuesday was very impromptue, as Barb (my girlfriend) and I decided to go to the Wisconsin Dells for a day or two. We had a very enjoyable time on the boat tours, and an exillerating time on the go-carts, which almost did me in for the rest of the day. The go-carts mights not have been one of the most intelligent things to do (it felt as if my teeth were going to rattle out of my head), but it made me feel more alive than I have in weeks! I still have a few more days of "vacation" left, and plan on spending it with the girls at the Ft. Madison Rodeo. Thanks for all the prayers and wishes.
